RACE RULES

Please take a few minutes to review both our local rules and the entire rule manual which can be found on the TRIBC website under "Officiating and Rules" .  Please note that it is your responsibility as a competitor to know the race route.  We strongly advise each athlete to ride or drive the course the day before the race.

SWIM

The 1.5 km swim follows the shore out and back.  The sprint course will have 15m "ends" between buoys to reduce congestion. It is well marked and patrolled. Wet suits are advised. The water temperature is 18°-22°C (64°-71°F).  Athletes are strongly advised to be well trained for the swim.

BIKE

A scenic bike course starts at Lakeside Park, crosses over the orange bridge, continues along beautiful Kootenay Lake and back.  Sprint participants turn at Lower 6 Mile Road and Olympic distance participants continue out to Kokanee Park .  This course is open to traffic.  The course is well controlled by marshals, police and professional flaggers.

RUN

This course takes you along the waterfront, around Anderson Street and then Nelson Avenue and across the orange bridge.  The sprint course turns around on Valhalla Rd, returns via the bridge and turns right on Kokanee Street then Second Street into the park.  The Olympic course continues past the orange bridge onto the rolling hills of Johnstone Road, returning as the sprint does. Aid stations are located along this route.  It can be hot!
