When you open this file in Google Earth it will appear at the bottom of the tree in "temporary places" under the "PLACES" title. Highlight a section of the race (these have an icon in front of them that feature three small diamonds linked with lines. Click on the play button to start the flyby. Each section is colour coded. Click on the place marks for more information on each leg of the race.
For best results and topographical features go to Tools/Options menu then choose the touring tab. Change these settings:
- Camera tilt angle - 55 degrees
- Camera range - 150 meters
- Speed - 200
You may need update to the newest version of Google Earth.
RACE RULES
Please take a few minutes to review both our local rules and the entire rule manual which can be found on the TRIBC website under "Officiating and Rules" . Please note that it is your responsibility as a competitor to know the race route. We strongly advise each athlete to ride or drive the course the day before the race.
SWIM
This course is the same as the last 11 years. The 1 km swim is across and back Kootenay Lake. It is well marked and patrolled. Wet suits are advised. The water temperature is 18°-22°C (64°-71°F).
BIKE
A scenic bike course starts at Lakeside Park, crosses over the orange bridge, continues along the beautiful Kootenay Lake and back. Long course participants do two (2) loops. This course is open to traffic. The course is well controlled by marshals and police.
RUN
This course takes you along the rolling hills of Johnstone Road. Aid stations are located along this route. It can be hot!
